Jake- now and then

I just wanted to put in a quick post commenting on how much all three of the babies have grown. On Tuesday they will be 6 months old and they have come a long way from being my teeny little preemies. I think the most obvious change is in Jake. Born at 4lbs 10ozs and now at 6 months he's at least 18lbs. (or maybe more!). Here is a side by side comparison of Jake at 2 weeks 3 days old and at 5 months old. And yes, this is the same swing in both pictures!

ME Time

"Me" time is not something you come across much as a triplet mommy. But occasionally there are a few stolen moments just for yourself. Today I had 45 minutes all to myself. So I indulged a little bit and treated myself to a pedicure. Aaaahhhhh...

Visitors!

My big brother Terry and his girlfriend Sara work weekends so we don't get a chance to get together much. But this past Wednesday they came over to grill out steaks (yum yum) and just hang out. Terry and Sara were both very surprised at how much the babies have grown in just 2 months. After lots of snuggles and kisses with the babies we all headed over to the pool for a swim. The babies just love the pool! Although we did have to deal with a surprise pop up rain shower. Then it was back to the house to get the steaks on the grill. Kurt is a fantastic grill master and cooked them just right. We had such a fun visit. The trips just love visitors! We got some cute pics of Sarah snuggling all 3 babies at once, then Terry lovin' on Luke and Sarah, then all of us in the pool.

Sarah's New Trick

Sarah has learned a new fun (well funny at least) trick. We've been giving her some time in her walker. Normally she loves it but when she doesn't feel like she's getting enough attention she shoves a toy off the tray and watches for Kurt or I to pick it up. If that doesn't work then she shoves off another toy. Then another. Sneaky little girl already. Here is Sarah hard at work.

Babies First Slumber Party

For the first time since we brought them home from the hospital, the triplets stayed overnight away from both Kurt and I. They stayed with their Grandma and Grandpa Trenary. We knew they were in excellent hands but we were still uneasy since it was the first time. Kurt and I took off to a wedding in Dahlonega. The wedding was great and it was nice to have an evening out with our friends. When we picked the kids up on Sunday morning, Grandma and Grandpa seemed worn out. They got some first hand knowledge of how hard it is for two people to juggle three babies. You don't have to tell us!

Sunday evening we finally had a chance to weigh the babies. Now our scale may not be perfect but it's pretty close. All 3 babies had "round" weights- Sarah at 15lbs 0zs, Jake at 18lbs 0ozs, and Luke at 16lbs 0ozs. The babies are meeting their milestones nicely. Sarah and Luke are both very close to rolling over. I'm sure Jake will be doing it soon too. The babies appear to be more aware of each other often turning toward each other when they are in their swings. The babies love their cereal and their veggies. So far we have introduced carrots, squash, and sweet potatoes. This week we are starting on fruits. We're seeing a lot more drool from the babies and they are putting everything to their mouths. I wonder if their gums/teeth are starting to get sore? They still don't much care for the pacifier though. All 3 babies love when we make "motor boat" noises. They smile so big and even squeal with laughter. Jake has also started making a noise that sounds pretty close to "uh-oh" when you say it to him first. All three of our babies are such a joy! And are growing fast right before our eyes!

My Messy Babies

The trips are still working on mastering eating baby food. But in the meantime I just love those messy faces. Sarah fell asleep while eating her dinner. Jacob was laughing and cooing so much I could barely feed him. I didn't catch Luke getting messy but he's just as cute clean!

Happy 5 Months!

Today my sweet little babies turned 5 months old. We celebrated by giving them their first taste of colorful food. From 0-4 months we only fed them breastmilk and formula. At 4 months we introduced rice cereal. And now we are introducing sweet potatoes, squash, and carrots. Soon we will add fruits and then green veggies....mmmmm! Oh how fast the time is passing by! Here is their 5 month picture. I will follow up soon with updated weights and milestones.
