We all scream for ice cream!

Kurt and I are getting more comfortable taking the babies out in public. Cold and flu season is nearly over, the babies are more interactive, and we are more comfortable as parents. Also the babies really seem to like exploring their new world. So tonight we went out for ice cream and then walked around the outdoor mall called Ashley Park. The babies seemed intrigued to watch us enjoying our cones so we thought we'd give them just a teeny weeny taste. I dabbed a tiny amount on Jake's mouth first. He licked his lips and gave us a huge grin. I guess he liked it! Luke and Sarah seem to be pretty big fans too. Of course it will be quite awhile before they can have their own ice cream but a little tiny dab seemed to be great for today!

Goodbye baby scale :(

The babies got their last round of Synagis vaccine today which meant they took away my baby scale. Sad. No more weighing the babies whenever I want. The amount of vaccine given to each baby varies based on the baby's weight. So before every injection I had to weigh the babies and let the nurse know the result. They loaned us a baby scale so we could weigh them at home. But since their last injection was today they took the scale back. We weighed them last night just to get one last measurement. Sarah is still the smallest at 12lbs. 0ozs. Luke is next at 12lbs. 10ozs. Jake is still my chunky monkey at 14lbs. 8ozs. They've come a long way from my little 3 & 4 pound preemies.

14 Weeks

Tomorrow the babies will be 14 weeks old! And they are growing so much! Sarah now weighs 11 lbs. 7ozs. Jake weighs 13 lbs. 13 ozs. Luke weighs 12 lbs. 3ozs. All three are eating 5 1/3 ozs. (160 mls) at each feeding. Although their feedings have been a little off lately as they all have allergies to the massive amounts of pollen. Lots of sneezing and coughing! They are all tracking objects now including people and toys. All three are also smiling big now and cooing. Those smiles just melt our hearts. It just keeps getting better and better!

Easter Sunday

It was Easter Sunday this past weekend and it was a day of "firsts" for the triplets. It was their first time to go to church. We have been unsure of taking them as they are still too vulnerable to germs to go to church daycare so that have to sit in the service with us. But they did great! Barely a peep the whole time. It was also the first time they wore their Easter outfits. I will post some pics at the bottom of this posting. Now we have to wear them as much as possible before they outgrow them. All 3 were just adorable but Sarah wins the prize for cutest outfit. It was also the first time the Easter bunny visited the babies. He brought a basket full of treats. Of course the adults ingested most of the candy but there was a very cute duck stuffed animal the babies can play with. Overall it was a great day!

Jakers Smiles

In the past few days Jake has started cooing and smiling. He is so expressive now. That little smile just melts my heart. I love you little Jakers! I can't wait to see Luke's and Sarah's smiles and hear their cooing too.

Visit to the Doc

Friday the babies had their 2 month (we're a little behind) checkup. The doctor was very pleased with their progress. Here are the babies' stats:

Sarah: weight is 10lbs 15ozs, height is 21 inches, head circumference is 38.5cm

Jake: weight is 13lbs 8ozs, height is 22 inches, head circumference is 39cm

Luke: weight is 11lbs 8ozs, height is 21.5 inches, head circumference is 39cm

Each of the babies is right on par in weight and head circumference with other 12 1/2 week old babies. Since their "adjusted" age is only 5 1/2 weeks because they were born 7 weeks premature, they are literally "off the charts" good for their adjusted age. The one area they are behind in is height. They are on track with 5 1/2 week old babies but not 12 1/2 week old babies. But that's ok. The doctor said that will come in time. It's easy to put weight on a baby but not height. They are on track with things like head control, tracking, etc. And we get to stop the Neosure (preemie) formula and switch to regular formula. And I plan to keep the breastfeeding going too. At least until they are 6 months old. The babies did have to get immunizations though. Uggg...I hate that! But they did great. The doctor plans to see them again for their 4 month checkup. At that time we can start adding rice cereal and stage 1 baby food to their diets. My babies are growing up! We took a photo of Jake and Luke at the doc. Enjoy!

A Baby Bonanza

On Wednesday this week, some of my best girlfriends came over for a visit. Chantal lives in Vancouver and Dana lives in Delaware. They were both in town for Passover festivities. Chantal had a sweet baby girl around Thanksgiving last year. Baby Charlotte is precious! It was the first time I'd seen her in person. Meredith also tagged along which was great because she hasn't seen the babies since they were in the NICU. Both Chantal's and Dana's moms came along to meet the triplets also. There were 4 babies here and with pregnant Meredith, it was truly a baby bonanza! Even though they were here for several hours, it was over too soon and I didn't want them to leave.
