A big weekend

This was quite a weekend! Jake has been working on perfecting his stance. And I think he just about has it. His brother and sister must have been giving him tips.

Then Saturday we awoke to find our dog Lady's crate covered in blood and vomit. We immediately took her to our local vet only to then be referred to the emergency pet hospital 20 miles away. She is still there even as I type this. But she's on the mend now. They think Lady had hemorrhagic gastroenteritis (HGE), bleeding from the stomach or intestines. They still aren't sure what caused it but at least she is feeling better now.

On Sunday, we ventured out with the babies to see David & Megan's new house. Their house is awesome! They have a pool and a screen porch I am super jealous of. We ate hamburgers and then took the babies for a swim. It was a great day!

Jake puts his foot down!

Today Jake put his foot down...or feet, I should say. For weeks now, Sarah and Luke have been standing as long as they have someone to balance them. They lock their legs straight and can stand all day it seems. But Jake has not showed much interest. He's much more content to just kick back and relax. But tonight he stood on his own two chubby legs. He locked them straight for a minute or two and stood tall. Way to go my sweet chunka monk!

3 Very Tired Babies

It's Sunday evening and the babies have had a very busy weekend. They got to see two grandmas, a grandpa, and an uncle. They also got to go out to eat at Red Robin. They entertained everyone in the whole place. They were like little celebrities! Here they are sacked out after all the fun.

Sarah tries her first "fresh" food ever

Last night Sarah was being fussy so we decided to try something new. So far the babies have eaten a variety of baby food but nothing fresh yet. But we have these little feeders the babies can suck on. They can suck the juice through the net without us worrying about them choking on big pieces. She loved it! We'll give Jake and Luke a try at it tomorrow.

I have a funny pic I just have to share also. This is Sarah after a bath- hair standing straight up! That's our little punk rocker!

Mr. Squeals

As part of his "finding his voice" development, Jake has started screeching and squealing at the top of his lungs. While it does pierce your ears sharply, it is neat to see any of the babies cross another milestone. We shot a 30 second video of Jake laughing and squealing. It's not the loudest he's ever done but it's still funny. Enjoy!

PS- A big thank you to Dad & Elizabeth for helping us get some stuff done around the house this weekend. The 2 extra sets of hands were a huge help! Thanks!

Music Man

This morning when I woke up I heard an unusual sound coming from the nursery. At night when the kids go to bed we turn on a little toy that plays music and projects an aquarium scene on the ceiling. It shuts off after about 10 or 15 minutes so it's not on very long. This morning when I woke up I could hear it playing in the nursery. Turns out my little wiggle-worm Lucas scooted himself over to where it sits at the end of his crib and pushed the buttons until it started playing. Sounds like it's time to move the projector somewhere else. Heaven help us but that little munchkin is going to get into everything!

Tickle Monster

We found out the other day that our sweet Lucas is very ticklish! He just laughs and laughs! Here is some video we captured.

We've come a long way baby!

Yesterday (Friday) was the babies' 7 month birthday. We've been taking pics every month on their birthday so we can see how they are changing. What a huge difference from month 1 to month 7. We celebrated the day by heading to Dad & Elizabeth's house. Kurt, Dad, and uncle Bob took off for the Braves game. I met up with Carla and Janna and we went to a Greek restaurant with Amanda, Kristy, & Courtney as a "going away" dinner for Carla. She's moving to Charlotte soon. Elizabeth and Memaw watched the triplets and they were a handful! But everyone had a great time!

The Happiest Babies on Earth!

Sometimes Kurt and I just sit around and wonder "how did we get the 3 happiest babies on earth?". This is not a joke. Are there times when the babies are screaming their little heads off? Yes. Of course. But on the whole, these babies are so happy. My favorite time of day is first thing in the morning. We go into the nursery to get them up and they are just so happy to see us! They smile, laugh, and do something Kurt calls "happy with their whole body". I feel like we hit the happy baby lottery. I was hoping for at least one happy baby. Two was a bonus. Three just blows your mind. These babies are so awesome! They love play time on their blankie "auntie" Meredith made for them. Here they are showing off their matching PJs from "auntie" Marla. On another note, I want to give a "shout out" to "auntie" Megan. She and I were sorority sisters in college and she is an avid follower of the blog. Last week she came to visit us. Megan lives in Virginia now so she hadn't yet had a chance to meet the triplets. They really enjoyed snuggling with their auntie.

Updates!!!

Last Tuesday the triplets went to the doctor for their slightly belated 6 month check up. The doctor was very pleased with their growth and development. Here are their stats:

Sarah: weight is 17lbs 2ozs (54th percentile) and height is 25.5 inches (21st percentile)
Jake: weight is 19lbs 9ozs (68th percentile) and height is 26.5 inches (30th percentile)
Luke: weight is 17lbs 11ozs (35th percentile) and height is 26.5 inches (30th percentile)

As always, those heights and weights are compared with other babies their same age that were born at full term. So as you can see they are right on track even though they were born 7 weeks early!

The doctor advised us that we can move on to stage 2 baby food. So now their diet consists of 4 bottles per day of breastmilk/formula with one serving of rice cereal and one serving of baby food. Soon we will be introducing a 3rd feeding of baby food.

Sarah is doing lots of fun things now. She rolls over, plays on her tummy, grabs for toys, puts everything in her mouth, recognizes voices, stands straight as long as someone balances her, babbles and squeals at everything, and splashes in the tub.

Jake is also doing a lot. He was a little slow to roll over but now he does it easily. He is the most talkative and the closest to saying real words. He also grabs for toys, puts everything in his mouth, and recognizes voices. Jake is not yet standing but I'm sure he will be soon.

Luke is the most active physically. He rolls all over the place and can scoot himself over to things he wants. While Sarah and Jake sleep in exactly the same place you put them, we never know what to expect with Luke. He is all over his crib- rolls on his front, rolls on his back, and to either end of the crib. He loves to play on his tummy and often does the "superman" pose on his belly where he looks like he's flying. He also grabs for toys, puts everything in his mouth, recognizes voices, and stands up straight as long as you balance him. Luke is not as vocal as the other two but he does make his wants known.

All three babies can prop up on their arms and sit up for a minute or so but it is not full sitting up just yet. No teeth have shown up yet but all 3 appear to be feeling discomfort from teething. And of course they are little drool factories! Luke has started to spit up his milk occasionally. Some friends of mine suggested it's probably from all the excess drool he's swallowing. I sure hope so!

So that catches everyone up. More pics soon!
